Establishing a Reusable ETL Workflow for Non-Profits

Connect2Help 211, an Indianapolis non-profit that connects people to human services, needed a repeatable ETL process to extract Refer data, transform and cleanse it, and load it into a MySQL database for Tableau reporting. They partnered with The Information Lab/Data School and Alteryx experts to tackle this short-term engagement and define the required outputs and database structure.

The team built a reusable Alteryx workflow that prepares and pushes data to MySQL and delivered eight Tableau visualizations—including unmet needs by zip code, age and gender of callers, top unmet needs, and reasons services were unavailable. The result was a production-ready ETL process and actionable dashboards that let Connect2Help 211 pinpoint community needs and plan interventions, prompting strong praise from the organization for the practical, lasting impact.
