Case Study: Climber achieves 87.9% accurate crime forecasts with Alteryx

Climber, recently named an Alteryx Preferred Partner, wanted to showcase its analytics capabilities by using public data to predict crime rates across metropolitan areas in England. The challenge was to turn complex crime statistics and deprivation data into forecasts that could help inform staffing, resource allocation, and deeper understanding of crime patterns, using Alteryx workflows and predictive modeling.

Using Alteryx, Climber built workflows to clean and combine multiple datasets, then applied time series forecasting with ARIMA and ETS models through Alteryx Gallery tools. Alteryx also supported clustering analysis to assess deprivation’s impact on crime. The solution predicted crime figures with around 87.9% accuracy using ARIMA, slightly outperforming ETS, and the results were visualized in Qlik Sense and shared with police staff and the press to strong positive feedback.
