Automated Partner Access Provisioning to Tableau Dashboards using Alteryx and Tableau API

Juniper Networks rolled out partner-facing Tableau dashboards to let partners track services performance but faced a time-consuming, error-prone process for provisioning access. Partner Contacts needed continuous validation against Partner Center data, and Juniper’s Tableau Online required manual SSO setup, site-role and group assignments, and deletions — a workflow that took hours weekly and risked stale access to confidential data.

Using Alteryx Designer and Server plus Tableau API, the team built a two-step automated workflow: extract and validate Partner Contacts from the credential management system into a staging file, then use the Tableau API to batch add valid users, assign groups/roles, and remove invalid users. Running daily, the solution eliminated manual work, enforced continuous validation, reduced security risk, sends email alerts on changes, and saved roughly two hours per week while ensuring only entitled partners access the dashboards.
