Apex Tool Group, a $1.4B hand- and power-tool manufacturer with over 7,500 employees, struggled to make use of chaotic point-of-sale (POS) data from multi-step distribution channels. Relying on a third party that delivered datasets up to 60 days late, the new Global Business Intelligence team lacked timely, accurate insight into product performance and market differences, limiting strategy and accountability.
Using Alteryx the BI team cleaned and consolidated POS data, achieving 99.82% part-number accuracy, embedded visual dashboards into Salesforce, and connected SAP BW to Salesforce for account-level reporting and mobile access. Automation cut POS processing from 60 days to about 30 minutes daily (a 99.97% reduction), drove broader organizational use, earned the team a company award, and produced more than $4.1M in annual value (including regional replication that yielded $1.2M in Europe).
