Washington Health System, a health system in Pennsylvania, sought to upgrade its medication barcoding system to improve patient safety and clinical operations after using the same system since 2006. They partnered with Altera Digital Health to implement the Sunrise™ Knowledge-Based Medication Administration (Sunrise KBMA) solution.

Altera Digital Health's solution electronically assisted nurses with the "five rights" of medication administration, enhancing workflows and reducing errors. The implementation was a success, resulting in over 34,591 medication administrations with zero errors in the ED and a 97% successful medication scan rate across the health system, significantly improving patient safety.
