Geary Community Hospital, a not-for-profit community hospital in Kansas, was facing challenges with an outdated, nearly unsupported version of the Paragon EHR. With significant IT staff turnover and a lack of key application knowledge, they needed a more sustainable way to support their system and users. This led them to partner with vendor Altera Digital Health (formerly Allscripts).

Altera Digital Health implemented a remote hosting solution for the Paragon EHR and subsequently took over the hospital's help desk services. This move saved the customer $300,000 in immediate hardware upgrade costs and, through attrition, reduced their internal IT team from seven to five FTEs. The solution improved security and efficiency, enabling optimized clinical workflows and a more timely, prioritized response to user support requests from over 300 staff.
