Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) faced a challenge with its legacy systems, which were fragmented and lacked growth potential. The trust sought a singular, integrated health information system to improve clinical documentation and e-prescribing. To address this, they partnered with vendor Altera Digital Health to implement the Allscripts Sunrise platform.

Altera Digital Health implemented its Allscripts Sunrise solution across five sites in a "big-bang" go-live. The vendor aided in uploading 32.5 million historical documents and training 4,000 staff. The result was a smooth deployment that maintained operational targets, such as a 95% 4-hour wait time target in A&E, and provided new capabilities for e-prescribing and safer medication management.
