Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a major Toronto teaching hospital, faced challenges with inefficient, manual transport and communication processes for its staff. To address this, the hospital partnered with vendor Altera Digital Health to implement its Allscripts Patient Flow solution, aiming to automate workflows and improve real-time information sharing.

Altera Digital Health's mobile application replaced pagers and IVR systems, enabling transporters to receive and complete jobs directly from their devices. This solution significantly improved operational efficiency, increasing the compliance rate for marking jobs in progress from 49% to 73% and saving an estimated 40 hours per month in transport time. The vendor also provided crucial support during implementation to ensure the system's success.
