Digital maturity enables new patient pathways at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust

The customer, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, sought to leverage its digital maturity to improve patient safety and operational excellence, moving beyond simply digitizing paper processes. They partnered with Altera Digital Health and utilized the Allscripts Sunrise platform, including its Acute Care and Knowledge Based Medicines Administration (KBMA) solutions, to enable new, efficient patient pathways.

Altera Digital Health's solution allowed the Trust to develop a "clinical tessellation model," creating reusable digital components for common clinical tasks. This approach was applied to pathways for conditions like VTE, delirium, and UTIs. The results were significant, including a major reduction in VTE events, a sustained increase in delirium screening, and a reduction in time to treatment for UTI patients from three days to just three hours.
