Case Study: XLDyn achieves up-to-date verified vehicle requirements and real-time program status with Altair

Preview of the XLDyn Case Study

XLDyn provides management visibility into early vehicle requirements development

XLDyn, a provider of management visibility into early vehicle requirements development for the automotive, heavy equipment and aerospace industries, needed a way to verify vehicle requirements, generate design parameters and deliver real-time project status to management. Altair worked with XLDyn to apply an MBSE-based approach using XLDyn MBSE models and integrated verification methods to capture requirements (including SysML conversion), link them to analysis procedures, and provide live status updates.

Altair’s implementation converted Word requirements into SysML diagrams in minutes, tied fuel-economy targets to the corporate fuel-economy prediction software and cell equations, and routed structural frequency targets into CAE dynamic simulation workflows with automated status returns. The result was up-to-date program status and early verification of key requirements—examples include the CombinedCityHwy = 26 MPG fuel-economy target and structural targets BM1 > 25 Hz and TM1 > 30 Hz—visible in a consolidated Chief Engineer view with completed items, verification methods, assignees and timestamps (e.g., Oct 26, 2015; Dec 30, 2015). Altair’s solution delivered faster requirement-to-verification traceability and automated reporting.
