Whirlpool Optimizes Design Problems and Significantly Cuts Prototyping Time and Cost

Whirlpool sought to scale up its Indian design center’s virtual design, testing, and evaluation capability but was constrained by the high licensing costs of technical simulation tools. To overcome this, Whirlpool adopted Altair’s HyperWorks platform and Altair Partner Alliance, leveraging solutions such as AcuSolve for CFD and nCode DesignLife for fatigue analysis.

Using the Altair Partner Alliance licensing model, Altair gave Whirlpool on‑demand access to pre/post‑processing, solvers and fatigue tools under a single license, enabling more engineers to run virtual prototyping simultaneously. The Altair solution made Whirlpool more cost‑efficient, opened new simulation capabilities, significantly reduced prototyping time and cost, and shortened time‑to‑market while allowing the team to explore new competencies.
