Venti Group, an antenna design and simulation specialist, was commissioned to create a compact 5G MIMO seat antenna for a Tier 1 DAS partner ahead of the 2022 NFL championship. The antenna needed to cover all 5G bands while fitting under a stadium seat near concrete, survive pressure-washing, accommodate tight cable routing and mounting constraints, and be delivered on a compressed schedule — challenges Venti addressed using Altair Feko.

Altair’s Feko enabled rapid electromagnetic simulation and quick re-optimization (hours to evaluate, 3–4 days to refine versus weeks for prototyping), allowing Venti to shrink, fold, and repackage the antenna while maintaining RF performance. The deployed solution met durability and space requirements and supported record stadium demand: Verizon reported 30.4 TB of data used and AT&T recorded average 169.5 Mbps downloads on 5G+, with the system handling more data than all previous championship games combined — a success achieved using Altair’s tools.
