A Altair Case Study
UNO MINDA, a global leader in automotive component manufacturing, faced tight thermal-management, size and reliability constraints while designing on-board EV chargers and PCBs—challenges compounded by high power density, EMI/EMC and structural requirements. To tackle this, UNO MINDA adopted Altair’s simulation tools—primarily Altair SimLab, together with PollEx for PCB-level analysis—introduced via channel partner DesignTech to accelerate virtual prototyping and reduce physical tests.
Using Altair SimLab and PollEx for DoE and sensitivity studies, UNO MINDA identified hotspots, optimized heat-transfer paths and validated designs virtually, yielding a 20% reduction in on-board charger weight and a 50% reduction in experiment design effort. Altair’s solution also produced CAE-to-physical-test results within about a 10% deviation, with ongoing work to reduce that gap to under 5%, demonstrating faster iteration, better thermal performance, and measurable efficiency gains.
