U-Shin, a global automotive parts manufacturer specializing in zamak high‑pressure die‑casting, faced the challenge of optimizing more than 100 tooling designs per year to reduce time, cost and part failures. To address casting porosity and improve reliability, U-Shin implemented Altair’s solidThinking Click2Cast casting simulation software.

Using Altair’s solidThinking Click2Cast, U-Shin simulated zamak flow, identified the critical porosity zone and optimized injection speed, then redesigned a failing dead lock pin. The result: porosity dropped from 0.45 mm3 to 0.03 mm3, and simulation reduced cost/time compared with physical trials (actual trials ≈ €5,000–10,000 and 3 weeks vs. Click2Cast ≈ €500–600 and 1 day), enabling faster, cheaper and more reliable part development.
