Subaru - Customer Case Study

Subaru, a global automobile and aircraft manufacturer focused on vehicle safety, faced rising CAE simulation demands but had limited power and space for on‑premises HPC and found private cloud costs prohibitive. After evaluating options, Subaru chose Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and retained Altair for workload management using Altair PBS Professional to enable dynamic cloud bursting and extend HPC capacity.

Altair helped Subaru migrate its collision and fluid simulation workload to OCI in about six weeks, far faster than a typical on‑premises expansion, while optimizing per‑node memory and adding remote preprocessing to cut data transfer. With Altair and Oracle support Subaru cut HPC costs by hundreds of millions of yen, reduced private‑cloud operational labor, improved user performance and satisfaction, and now runs a hybrid cloud strategy for scalable, cost‑effective CAE.
