Streamlining the Weight Data Management Process to Improve Decision Making

Airbus Helicopters’ Weight & Balance team was struggling to collect standardized, up-to-date weight data from multiple internal departments and external suppliers, which slowed analysis and decision making because reports were manually uploaded and could not be updated in real time. Altair was engaged to address this challenge and proposed its Weight Analytics solution to centralize and standardize data intake and reporting.

Altair implemented and customized Weight Analytics, including multiple import templates, automated daily .csv imports, and on-site training and support so Weight Managers could quickly validate and track data. As a result, Airbus Helicopters can estimate helicopter weight earlier across baseline and multiple mission configurations, run what‑if scenarios, and monitor product maturity; one measurable outcome is reducing moment of inertia preparation from four weeks to one day. Altair continues to partner with Airbus Helicopters to expand features and roll the solution out to more global suppliers.
