ShipMo3D - Customer Case Study

ShipMo3D needed to assess seakeeping and wave-induced loads across multiple scenarios — determining spar responses to waves of varying frequency, amplitude, and direction, tow-point motion in different sea states, and radiation/diffraction loads on cable ferries. Altair supported this work using the ShipMo3D software (with integration to ProteusDS) to address these complex hydrodynamic challenges.

Altair implemented custom ShipMo3D models to compute time histories of wave effects, derive RAOs, and calculate hull forces, pairing the software with ProteusDS so waves are sampled around structures and applied to rigid‑body simulations. The solution provided 3D sea-surface visualization and more accurate, integrated simulations that improved prediction of spar response, tow‑point motion, and wave loads for design and operational analysis.
