Samsung SDI Saves Six Million USD Annually with Altair PollEx™

Samsung SDI, a global leader in rechargeable batteries, faced new PCB challenges as it shifted from display control circuits to battery control circuits and expanded through acquisitions. The company needed a robust, centrally managed PCB design review and verification solution to handle new DFM/DFE requirements and enable consistent rule sets across branch locations — a need Samsung SDI addressed by evaluating and adopting Altair PollEx.

Altair implemented PollEx (PCB Modeler and PCB Verification) with PDM server integration and centralized rule management, enabling cross‑discipline collaboration among PCB artwork, hardware, manufacturing and test engineers. The Altair solution was deployed in two months and delivered measurable impact: estimated annual savings of six million USD, design iterations cut from 20 to 9, and revision checks reduced from 6 to 3, while enabling early DFM/DFE checks and future use of PollEx solvers for signal, power and thermal analysis.
