A Altair Case Study
Py-Engineering, a Rotterdam-based engineering automation consultancy, needed to make complex NEN 2608 glass calculations accessible to non-experts. Traditionally these checks require expensive FEM software and up to eight hours per case; Py-Engineering partnered with Altair and used the Altair HyperWorks platform (including HyperMesh, OptiStruct, HyperStudy and HyperView) to embed engineering expertise into an online, white‑label tool for AEC clients.
Using Altair tools, Py-Engineering created parametric HyperMesh scripts and ran roughly 300,000 OptiStruct simulations in HyperStudy to precompute about 80% of common combinations, storing results in a knowledge base and using HyperView for visual output. The Altair-enabled solution automates interpolation of new cases, produces traceable NEN 2608 PDF reports, eliminates manual FEM work, and delivered measurable benefits — up to 50% reduced development time, 70% lower software costs, and dramatically faster, hours‑saved calculations for end users.
