A Altair Case Study
Prodrive, a leading motorsports engineering firm, was overwhelmed by massive sensor datasets—about 0.5 TB per car per race weekend and 5–10 TB per week during test runs—and found its legacy analytics unable to manage long-term, high-frequency data or support fast development cycles. Seeking better management, real-time stream processing, and easier dashboarding, Prodrive selected Altair and its Altair Panopticon platform to address these challenges.
Altair implemented Panopticon to deliver high-frequency real-time visualization, stream processing, and self-service dashboards so Prodrive engineers can build and maintain analytics without IT. With Altair Panopticon they can evaluate every engine’s 15,000‑km life, automatically detect anomalies, and act in live situations—such as identifying a gearbox-duct overheating at the 2022 24 Hours at Daytona, enabling a quick repair and keeping the car in the race—driving faster design improvements and better race outcomes.
