Pranav Vikas (PVL), a leading Indian manufacturer of aluminum heat‑exchangers, needed to reduce product weight and resolve warranty failures while validating new materials and processes. To meet these challenges, Pranav Vikas partnered with Altair and used the Altair HyperWorks™ suite—including Altair OptiStruct™, Altair HyperMesh™ and Altair HyperForm™—for design optimization, CAE and forming simulations.
Using Altair HyperWorks, the PVL team ran assembly‑load simulations that identified an assembly fixture as the root cause of an oil‑cooler pad‑plate failure, and used HyperMesh/OptiStruct/HyperForm to model pipe bending and predict thinning/thickening with CAE results within a 10% error of prototypes. Altair’s solutions enabled wall‑thickness reductions (e.g., 1.2→1.0 mm and 1.75→1.4 mm), delivering about 16–17% raw material savings, faster prototyping and reduced warranty risk.
