Case Study: CEA Tech achieves up to 4.5x faster EDA workflows and optimized license utilization with Altair Accelerator

A Altair Case Study

Preview of the CEA Tech Case Study

Powering R&D at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission

CEA Tech, the Grenoble-based research unit of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, faced heavy EDA workloads across multiple foundry PDKs and complex SoC, RF and mixed‑signal flows. They needed better license utilization and faster job turnaround to free licenses quickly for queued work, and evaluated solutions before adopting Altair tools — using Altair Monitor for realtime EDA license management and selecting Altair Accelerator as their job scheduler.

Altair implemented a combined solution (Monitor + Accelerator) that automatically sizes resources, prioritizes critical jobs, preempts with FairShare, and runs tasks on the fastest servers by time of day. As a result, CEA Tech achieves a 4.5x speedup for single‑user simulations (3.9x with FairShare), schedules hundreds of thousands of jobs weekly, and significantly improves license utilization and time‑to‑market while reducing EDA compute inefficiencies.
