Pioneering Real Wireless Power Delivery™ at Ossia Inc. FEKO in the Simulation Process

Ossia, creator of the Cota® wireless power platform, faced the challenge of proving its system could safely deliver power over distance (2–3 meters) without exposing people or pets above FCC SAR limits. To validate real-world performance — modeling a human phantom in proximity to large antenna arrays of 200+ elements — Ossia engaged Altair and its electromagnetic simulation software FEKO.

Altair’s FEKO was used with hybrid FEM/MLFMM solvers and scripting automation to model complex dielectric phantoms and large antenna arrays efficiently, cutting setup time and enabling many automated scenario runs. The FEKO simulations demonstrated Cota’s power delivery stayed within the FCC 1.6 W/kg SAR limit, validated the multi-path diffraction approach, and helped Ossia advance the technology toward commercial deployment.
