Petascale Computing Resources Support Education and Research Nationwide

The National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC) Singapore, which manages the country's petascale ASPIRE 1 supercomputer and provides HPC resources to research, education and government stakeholders, needed a long-term partner to deliver enterprise-grade workload management, centralized resource budgeting and a national licensing plan. NSCC required a solution that could optimally schedule, monitor and manage diverse systems, provide a web portal and remote 3D visualization, and support a nationwide license model — needs Altair was engaged to address.

Altair delivered PBS Professional along with a national license plan, enterprise support, technical consulting and SLAs, enabling centralized allocation and budgeting across NSCC’s collaborators. With Altair’s workload management, NSCC improved utilization and efficiency on its petascale systems, supports mixed workloads (HPC, AI, bioinformatics, high-throughput jobs), and accelerated research and education nationwide — while jointly exploring further innovations with Altair such as thermal-aware scheduling and delivering supercomputing over 5G edge servers.
