PBS Professional Manages Workload for Czech National Supercomputing Center

IT4Innovations, the Czech National Supercomputing Center at VŠB‑TUO, needed a reliable, high‑performance workload manager to support a large, diverse user base across its Anselm cluster and an upcoming larger system. In its procurement Bull recommended Altair’s PBS Professional (with PBS Analytics) to satisfy strict requirements for scheduling, GPU/co‑processor support, job arrays/dependencies, high availability, quotas and a documented API.

Altair delivered PBS Professional (pre‑installed by Bull) and PBS Analytics, enabling fast implementation, easy user adoption, and straightforward customization via plugins and prologue/epilogue scripts. The solution is now the sole allocation method for the cluster, supporting over 100 active users with a planned user base of 200+, running on the Anselm system (Rpeak ≈ 94 TFLOP/s); IT4Innovations reports improved utilization, rapid onboarding, robust performance, and better analytics for billing and capacity planning.
