NSCC and Altair Collaborate to Connect HPC Communities and Optimize Resources

The National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC) Singapore, steward of the nation’s petascale HPC facilities that serve research, government and industry, faced rising demand for diverse applications and hardware (including the new ASPIRE 2A system with AMD CPUs and NVIDIA GPUs) plus a shortage of skilled HPC engineers. To move from labor‑intensive operations toward semi‑ and full automation and to enable seamless access to both local and external compute resources, NSCC turned to Altair and its Altair Liquid Scheduling solution (building on Altair PBS Professional).

Altair implemented Liquid Scheduling to create a single, global scheduler that connects multiple clusters without moving or requeuing workloads, removes resource silos, and enables global fairshare policies. The Altair solution improved utilization and load balancing, gave users wider access to a pooled compute resource without changing workflows, and streamlined administration—positioning NSCC to deliver better service, foster collaboration, and scale HPC resource sharing across institutions.
