Inmobiliaria Espacio, owner of the Caleido (Fifth Tower) project in Madrid, faced the challenge of predicting ground‑floor wind conditions to identify pedestrian comfort and safety hotspots before finalizing the design. With wind‑tunnel results delayed and a tight schedule, Inmobiliaria Espacio engaged Altair to provide rapid simulation support using Altair’s HyperWorks Suite, including AcuSolve and solidThinking Compose for CFD analysis.

Altair ran detailed CFD studies (HyperMesh meshing, AcuSolve solver, AcuFieldView post‑processing and solidThinking Compose for data work) driven by multi‑year Madrid Barajas wind data and meshes up to ~5 million nodes to estimate how often wind exceeded critical thresholds and to map problem areas. Altair’s simulations produced reliable results about five months earlier than traditional wind‑tunnel testing, validated well against later tunnel data, enabled design changes before construction, and delivered measurable time and cost savings while improving pedestrian comfort.
