Modeling Real Automotive Parts Replaces Cost and Time-Consuming Physical Testing

Trèves, a leading Tier‑1 NVH supplier (turnover €580M; ~4,900 employees), needed to reduce part design time and replace costly, time‑consuming physical testing while accurately modeling real multi‑layer parts with varying thicknesses to meet stricter pass‑by noise limits. To do this it turned to AlphaCell (Matelys) made available via the Altair Partner Alliance, using the software to generate reliable acoustic input parameters and cabin/part predictions.

Using AlphaCell through Altair, Trèves built a model in under a day that accounts for varying thickness profiles and multi‑layer configurations and returns full‑spectrum results in seconds, enabling numerical optimization of the engine hood and the entire sound package (engine bay, underbody, wheel arch). The Altair‑enabled solution dramatically cut prototyping time and cost, produced accurate predictions validated against measured parts, and allowed Trèves to scale the workflow to help meet upcoming pass‑by noise regulations.
