A Altair Case Study
Scherf Design, a creative design studio, set out to produce a 3D‑printed metal high-heel that was both highly distinctive and truly wearable—a difficult lightweight-structure challenge requiring advanced engineering and additive-manufacturing expertise. Altair was engaged to support the project’s lightweight-structure requirements while Scherf Design also used Materialise 3-matic software for the detailed model preparation.
Altair delivered lightweight-structure support and guidance that, together with Scherf Design’s use of Materialise 3-matic, enabled a robust yet elegant topology for the shoe. The result was a printable metal high heel that met wearability and aesthetic goals—producing a distinctive, functional prototype that demonstrated improved structural performance and successful realization of the original design intent.
