ICAT Achieves Robust Structural Integrity of their Automotive Components using Altair HyperWorks

The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), a NATRIP/NATIS division based in Gurgaon, sought to become a Centre of Excellence for automotive design, testing and validation but was constrained by time‑consuming, costly physical tests and complex manual calculations. To meet these challenges ICAT selected Altair and invested in the Altair HyperWorks CAE suite to provide validated simulation tools for faster, more accurate component development.

Altair implemented HyperWorks modules—including HyperMesh, HyperCrash, RADIOSS and OptiStruct—for structural simulations such as bus rollover, impact, seat strength and fixture design. Using Altair HyperWorks enabled ICAT to replace many physical tests, cut fixture design time by about 50%, achieve significant time and cost savings on bus rollover testing, shorten turnaround times for clients (improving time‑to‑market) and expand simulations to roughly 30 standards.
