A Altair Case Study
SOGECLAIR Aerospace, a global engineering and aerospace interiors partner, needed a lighter, adjustable and easier-to-install aircraft flooring system that could securely fix cabin seats while meeting strict strength and stiffness requirements. As an Altair customer since 2009, SOGECLAIR Aerospace leveraged Altair’s HyperWorks suite—including HyperMesh and HyperView for pre/postprocessing, OptiStruct for optimization, RADIOSS for simulation and solidThinking Evolve/Inspire for concept modeling—to tackle these composite-structure challenges.
Using Altair’s tools, SOGECLAIR Aerospace developed the “Optimfloor” single-piece composite floor with integrated stiffeners and an innovative “easyfix” fastening system. Altair-enabled topology and sizing optimizations delivered a 20% reduction in total floor weight, faster panel installation, adaptability across aircraft types, and two international patent filings; the lighter floor improves fuel efficiency or increases payload while also reducing development time and costs.
