How FE-Simulation with RADIOSS supports Sigma Connectivity in Streamlining the Development Process

Sigma Connectivity, a Lund, Sweden-based development service organization, needed to streamline product development for connectivity devices that must pass bending, torsion, connector stability, impact and thermal tests. To avoid costly physical prototypes and reduce the number of software vendors and licensing overhead, Sigma Connectivity moved from an external nonlinear FE solver to RADIOSS, the nonlinear solver in Altair’s HyperWorks CAE suite, while already using HyperMesh and HyperView for meshing and post-processing.

Altair supported a benchmark and deployment of RADIOSS and HyperWorks units (including PBS Professional and access to Altair Partner Alliance tools), enabling Sigma Connectivity to consolidate solvers, cut license costs, and decrease vendor support complexity. As a result of Altair’s solution and support, Sigma Connectivity adopted RADIOSS in real projects faster than expected, now handling most dynamic and quasi-static simulations in-house, running 10–20 simulations in short development cycles, offering a broader simulation portfolio to customers and delivering services at more competitive prices.
