A Altair Case Study
Leading Global Bank, a multinational bank with extensive buy-side and sell-side trading operations, needed better visibility into aggregated and historical trading activity than its order management system (OMS) could provide. The OMS held only limited multi-day data and lacked ad-hoc filtering and on-the-fly comparisons to spot trends or client-flow shifts, so the bank engaged Altair to evaluate Panopticon real-time streaming analytics as a solution.
Altair integrated Panopticon with the bank’s existing Kx kdb+ time-series warehouse and deployed dashboards via a Tomcat web server—moving from a three-week proof of concept to full implementation in 30 days. Traders, risk officers, and middle-office staff now use Altair Panopticon dashboards to compare real-time and historical activity by trader, desk, asset, and client, export filtered data, and build dashboards without IT support, eliminating reliance on snapshot emails or end-of-day reports and materially improving trading efficiency and responsiveness.
