A Altair Case Study
Eaton's Aerospace Group’s Hydraulic Systems Division, which designs hydraulic components for military and commercial aircraft, struggled with slow, unreliable meshing using a solver‑built process that didn’t produce high‑quality meshes for complex hydraulic geometries. The team needed faster, more accurate meshing—one Engine Driven Pump cylinder block model previously took three to four days to prepare—so they adopted Altair’s HyperWorks suite, principally HyperMesh, to address the challenge.
Altair implemented HyperMesh (part of HyperWorks), introduced by Eaton analyst Ahmad Sereshteh, to generate robust, high‑quality meshes and enable broader FEA and optimization workflows (including OptiStruct). The change cut model preparation from days to under a day—and in some cases reduced design tasks to less than half an hour—while improving accuracy, confidence, and reliability, delivering clear time savings and significant efficiency gains for Eaton's Aerospace Group.
