Digital Twin Slashes Waste 15% and Runtime Hours to Seconds

Patrone and Mongiello, a tier-one automotive supplier based in Tito, Potenza, Italy, needed a way to better monitor and control its sheet metal forming process to improve product quality and reduce production waste. They engaged Altair and its digital twin solution to capture sheet-metal behavior (stress, strain, elasticity) and equipment operating conditions (pad force, die friction) across the forming process.

Altair, together with partner AE Solutions, built a comprehensive digital twin using Altair® Inspire™ Form for FEA, Altair® HyperStudy® for DoE, romAI™ to generate reduced-order models, Altair Activate® for real-time simulation, and Altair® Panopticon™ for operator dashboards. The Altair solution cut production waste by more than 15%, shrank simulation runtimes from hours to seconds for real-time monitoring and corrective action, and enabled immediate production of axle attachment brackets for a major automaker.
