Developing More Accurate and Reliable Vehicle Component Models in Less Time with Software Automation

Changan Automobile, one of China’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturers, was struggling with slow, error-prone pre-processing of vehicle component models (notably the twist beam), which became a major development bottleneck. To address this, Changan engaged Altair and leveraged the Altair HyperWorks suite and consulting expertise from Altair’s Enterprise Solutions Group.

Altair developed the Changan Chassis Structure Automation Tool—a customized automation built on HyperMesh/HyperWorks workflows that automates meshing, weld creation, material assignment and contact identification and standardizes model setup for downstream solvers like OptiStruct. The Altair solution reduced pre-processing time by about 40–50%, cut human error, turned weeks of work into days, and improved confidence and efficiency in Changan’s CAE-driven development.
