Cleveland Golf Drives Product Innovation Through Simulation and Optimization Using HyperWorks

Cleveland Golf, a market-leading golf club manufacturer in Huntington Beach, faced tight USGA design limits and a need to accelerate innovation and differentiate products in a constrained market. To meet these challenges the company turned to Altair’s HyperWorks CAE suite—including HyperMesh, OptiStruct, HyperStudy, RADIOSS and AcuSolve—to virtually evaluate and tune materials, shape, weight placement, vibration (sound/feel), aerodynamics and impact performance.

Using Altair HyperWorks, Cleveland Golf rapidly iterated and optimized club designs (meshing a head in about five minutes), ran modal, aerodynamic and impact simulations, and automated thickness/center-of-gravity placement. The result: dramatically increased development velocity, measurable time savings (saving months of design time), improved design optimization and faster time to market—enabling new forms like a higher crown that still met performance targets—demonstrating Altair’s direct impact on product quality and innovation.
