Better Indoor Climate thanks to Simulation and Optimization

Kampmann GmbH, an international specialist in heating, cooling and building automation, needed to reduce physical prototypes and get early, detailed insights into system performance for its customized HVAC products. To move to a virtual development approach the company adopted Altair’s HyperWorks suite—notably AcuSolve (CFD), OptiStruct (optimization) and HyperMesh/mesh‑morphing—to address long development cycles and dependency on external simulation services.

Using Altair’s tools, Kampmann brought CFD and optimization in‑house, cutting CFD turnaround from about 10 days to roughly 3 hours, shortening test campaigns by about a week and reducing the number of physical prototypes. The Altair-enabled workflow delivered measurable gains: a 50% reduction in heat-exchanger size, over 15% lower construction height in one case, improved airflow/noise behavior, and faster, more transparent customer discussions through visualization.
