Arkal Automotive Optimizes FEA Data Creation Workflow with HyperMesh and CADdoctor

Arkal Automotive faced growing demand that made reducing simulation preprocessing time critical: the bottleneck was model preparation rather than CPU time. To address this, Arkal Automotive worked with Altair (and partner Elysium Co. Ltd.) using Altair’s HyperMesh for meshing and the CADdoctor translation and simplification tools to clean and simplify incoming CAD data.

Altair implemented a workflow that healed geometry, removed fillets/chamfers and simplified models with CADdoctor before meshing in HyperMesh, streamlining model creation and reducing manual repairs. The result was a higher-quality mesh and significantly fewer poor-quality elements: total elements fell from 157,940 to 145,834 (3 mm element size), elements with aspect ratio >7 dropped from 1,246 to 185, and elements with shortest edge >0.7 mm dropped from 568 to 114 — over an 80% reduction in those poor-quality element counts.
