Duco, part of the Technip Group, is a subsea engineering design, manufacturing and testing facility that develops umbilicals for deep‑water hydrocarbon fields. Facing poor mesh quality and slow CAE model generation with their incumbent pre‑processor, Duco engaged Altair’s HyperWorks suite—specifically the HyperMesh pre‑processor—to improve mesh control and accelerate analysis of complex fatigue and pressure load cases.

Altair implemented HyperMesh to give Duco direct control over mesh output, enable continual quality checks, exploit model symmetry, and automate meshing and spiraling cable extrusion via custom scripts. As a result, Duco cut model generation times from days of manual work to hours and minutes, improved mesh quality to reach design solutions faster, and retained solver compatibility thanks to Altair’s open architecture.
