APEL Extrusions, a full‑service aluminum extrusion manufacturer serving western Canada and the western United States, faced the challenge of testing die designs and extrusion performance without incurring the high cost and long lead time of physical trials, tooling and press time. To address this, APEL turned to Altair and used Altair’s solidThinking Click2Extrude simulation software to evaluate die parameters and weld quality before production.

Using Altair’s Click2Extrude, APEL ran numerous simulations in a short period to detect visible and invisible defects, assess tool deformation and validate design feasibility, avoiding costly physical trials. The solution enabled APEL to perform many simulations within one week, save thousands of dollars in materials and machinery costs, and increase accuracy in quoting future projects.
