Altair SmartCore™ Enables Real-Time Foundation Monitoring to Omnifor

Omnifor, a Netherlands-based provider of monitoring solutions for building managers and local governments, needed a cost-effective way to monitor timber pile foundations in soft-soil areas where piles must stay submerged to avoid rot. Property owners wanted to optimize inspection and maintenance timing to prevent irreversible damage, so Omnifor partnered with Altair and deployed the Altair SmartCore IoT platform to collect and manage sensor and environmental data.

Using Altair SmartCore, Omnifor built a Structural Health Monitoring solution with wireless sensor networks grouped by building or street, integrated hourly precipitation data, and exposed live metrics via Omnifor’s portal through Altair’s RESTful API. The Altair-enabled system delivers real-time dashboards for crack width, inclination, groundwater and settlement with multiple automated measurements per day, providing 24/7 access, reducing the need for frequent visual inspections, enabling earlier repairs, and saving time and money while preventing serious structural damage.
