A Altair Case Study
Röchling Group’s automotive division, Röchling Automotive, faced a time-sensitive engineering challenge: validating new, snake-shaped plastic flow-channel and cell-holder components for EV battery cooling. The parts’ geometric complexity, non-linear contacts and fine stress gradients made traditional FEA workflows—requiring CAD simplification and time-consuming meshing—slow and error-prone, so the team looked to Altair and its simulation products for a faster, more robust solution.
Altair implemented Altair SimSolid®, a meshless structural and thermal analysis tool that lets Röchling Automotive run system- and part-level studies directly on full CAD geometry without simplification or manual meshing. Using Altair SimSolid, the team reduced calculation time by 60%, tripled the number of designs analyzed within the same schedule, eliminated mesh-quality issues, and accelerated decision-making and quoting—delivering faster, more confident design iterations.
