Altair Inspire Empowers M&H CNC Technik to Optimize SYNEX’s Innovative Fire Extinguisher

M&H CNC Technik, an additive manufacturing specialist, worked with SYNEX to refine the DRILL‑X fire‑extinguishing device’s carrier, which was originally difficult and costly to 3D print due to large support requirements, high material consumption, long print times, and extensive manual post‑processing. To address these challenges they turned to Altair and its Inspire topology‑optimization tools to prepare the component for metal additive manufacturing.

Using Altair Inspire, M&H CNC Technik optimized the carrier’s topology, accounted for AM constraints (like the 45° rule) and defined ideal build orientation to minimize supports. Altair’s solution cut printing volume by 45%, printing time by 35%, and post‑processing effort by about 50%, while improving stiffness and enabling serial production; the redesign also delivered a 270% reduction in hydraulic resistance loss versus the conventionally manufactured part.
