Achieving Superior Crash Performance for the Soueast DX7

Soueast Motor, a China-based automaker, tasked Altair with improving the crashworthiness of its new DX7 SUV while cutting reliance on costly physical prototypes and meeting tight time and budget constraints. To reach a top C‑NCAP rating the company needed highly accurate CAE results and optimized restraint systems, so Altair’s HyperWorks suite—in particular the RADIOSS structural solver—was selected to validate and refine the vehicle design virtually.

Altair ProductDesign used HyperWorks, RADIOSS and HyperStudy to simulate the C‑NCAP 40% offset and other critical loadcases, applying an energy-management approach and optimizing bumper beams, rails, sill, steering column, footrest, seats, seat belts and airbags. The Altair-led program delivered close correlation between simulation and physical tests, reduced physical test iterations, lowered front-body weight, and helped the DX7 achieve a 5‑star C‑NCAP rating, demonstrating measurable improvements in crash performance and reduced development risk.
