San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools supports K–12, community college and occupational programs across 40 districts and five partner counties, serving over 400,000 students. Facing tight budgets and limited staff, the office struggled to integrate disparate payroll, HR and business data to meet new reporting requirements (including the Affordable Care Act and the Healthy Workplace Healthy Family Act) and to respond quickly to frequent ad hoc information requests.

The district implemented Altair’s self-service data preparation for more than 300 users, enabling payroll clerks and administrators to compile substitute-teacher and healthcare data, run ad hoc reports without IT involvement, and automatically pull and validate raw data. The change cut reporting and validation time from weeks to hours (quarterly payroll validation dropped from three weeks to under an hour), saved staff time, improved accuracy and helped ensure regulatory compliance without hiring outside help.
