Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli - Customer Case Study

Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, the Italian challenger for the 37th America’s Cup, needed to find new performance gains within the updated AC75 class and strict cost-and-component limits for AC37. Having already used Altair simulation tools for AC36, the team sought a more holistic technology approach and on-site expertise to identify where further structural and systems improvements could deliver a competitive advantage.

Working closely with Altair, the team combined structural simulation, high-performance computing (HPC), data analytics and a four-step digital twin fed by onboard sensors. HPC accelerated parallel optimization and component screening, while the digital twin provided real-time “virtual structural health” insights. The result was markedly faster simulation turnaround, more design iterations and optimized components, producing a streamlined development cycle and a clear competitive edge for AC37.
