A global automotive parts supplier with more than 300 manufacturing centers and nearly 90 development, engineering and sales sites in 30 countries faced a complex reporting challenge when opening a U.S. plant producing components for a major automaker. Because invoicing is done at the component level (typically 100–250 parts per finished unit) and each part must be traceable to a vehicle VIN, analysts had to reconcile data from MES, ERP, shipping and GL systems; the manual, multi-source process was slow, error-prone and drove up operational costs.

The company implemented Altair Monarch Complete as a self-service data preparation layer to extract, compare and verify production, shipment and financial data across systems. Automating the workflow reduced report creation from hours to minutes, cut the volume of data pushed into the general ledger (saving time and licensing costs), improved invoicing accuracy and inventory controls, and is now being rolled out to other areas to increase efficiency and lower costs.
