International Paper Implements Altair AI - Machine Learning Models Built in Altair AI Studio Display Real-time Data in Altair Panopticon Dashboards

International Paper, a global leader in renewable fiber-based packaging and pulp, tasked its analytics team with applying AI across paper manufacturing to optimize processes, predict material composition (including porosity), diagnose recovery boiler fouling, and deliver real-time guidance to operators to reduce waste and improve product consistency.

Using Altair AI Studio, AI Hub, and Panopticon—integrated with BrainCube and the AVEVA PI System—IP developed explainable prescriptive and predictive models and real-time dashboards that score KPIs and recommend equipment settings. The deployment enabled operators to act on live insights, delivering substantial reductions in energy and material waste, higher operational efficiency, and more consistent product quality.
