Star Tribune, Minnesota’s largest news organization, relocated its headquarters in March 2015 and wanted a modern visitor experience that would support a 21st-century newsroom. To help create a lobby and News Hub that could welcome, impress, and inform visitors and employees, Star Tribune partnered with Alpha Video and needed a flexible solution for delivering news, photos, and internal information across multiple displays.

Alpha Video recommended and implemented a TriplePlay HD IPTV distribution system and CastNET Digital Signage Content Management Software. The solution drives a 1x3 LED video wall in the lobby, a 1x4 LED video wall and 11-screen central column in the News Hub, plus digital signs across three floors and the printing plant; it also feeds content to desktops and mobile devices. The result is an effective, visually engaging communications platform that showcases breaking news, weather, RSS feeds, photography, and employee information, helping Star Tribune better welcome guests and present itself as a forward-looking news organization.
